The Museum of Fine Arts is housed in a handsome Palladian-style villa, located in downtown St. Petersburg’s most beautiful waterfront park. Founded in 1965 by a group of civic-minded art lovers, the MFA is the only place on Florida’s west coast where you can discover 4,500 years of civilization – both East and West – under one roof. This collection has more than 4,000 objects extending from antiquity to the present day and includes works by such major French artist as Fragonard, Vigée-Lebrun, Corot, Cézanne, Monet, Berthe Morisot, Gaugin, Renoir, and Rodin. The Museum also has significant works by the American artists Thomas Moran, George Inness, Robert Henri, George Bellows, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Native American, African, Asian, and pre-Columbian art, as well as photographs, are also on view, and a gallery is devoted to Steuben Glass.
