Every month enjoy family events at the Museum of Fine Arts!
Support for educational programs is provided in part by the Pinellas County Commission through the Cultural Affairs Department’s Cultural Development Grant Program, the City of St. Petersburg, the employees of the St. Petersburg Times, Target, and Westminster Communities in Florida.

Explore the MFA. You will find a work of art in the Museum’s permanent collection using a Museum Masterpiece “treasure hunt” sheet. You can also handle related touchable objects.

Imaginative performances for people of all ages by Nan Colton, the Museum’s talented performing artist-in residence. Her mini-plays follow:

  • June 19: “Remembering Anne Frank’s Birthday: Miep Gies” 

World of Imagination Storytelling for Children

Be prepared to listen, smile, and discover as storyteller-in-residence Charlotte Olson takes you on an interactive journey focusing on the collection. You may even find yourself playing one of her characters.

MFA: Hands-On!
1:30-2:30pm, third Saturday of the month.
Free with Museum admission
No registration necessary

Create art in the Museum’s classroom inspired by works in the collection and special exhibitions.

  • May 15: Use acrylic and tempera to create your own tile in the style of Wedgwood Fairyland Lustreware.
  • June 19: Start a miniature crest pole using Model Magic.

Painting in the Park

Painting in the Park
Sunday, April 25, 1-4 p.m.
Events on the north lawn are free. Performances and activities inside the Museum are included with regular admission.

Participate in this art “happening” with unique methods of painting, demonstrations, and hands-on activities for everyone. They include: Gigantic Clear and Flip-Flop Murals, Big Cylinder Painting Sculpture, Passport to Paintings in the MFA, and more. Also on tap is Nan Colton’s “What the Dickens: A Quick, Short Sketch” at 2:30 p.m.
