New Mexico, with its rich Native American traditions and desert landscape, has inspired some of the greatest art our country has produced. This compelling exhibition of nearly 100 works ranges from pre-Hispanic pottery to twenty-first century paintings and sculpture. At the center is the MFA’s impressive Georgia O’Keeffe landscape, Grey Hills Painted Red, New Mexico (1930). O’Keeffe and many others, before and after, have been mesmerized by the state’s vistas and diversity.
Developed by Tom and Mary James, The Raymond James Financial Collection is one of the largest private art collections in Florida, with some of the best examples being shown to the public for the first time. They encompass vibrant, large-scale paintings and sculpture and exquisite pieces of contemporary Native American jewelry from Mrs. James’ private collection. These works, as well as others from the Museum and private collections, take visitors on an unforgettable journey through art and history.
