This year we welcome back Museum favorites like Impromptu, the influence of jazz legend Django Reinhardt, has made this group one of the premiere “gypsy” jazz bands in the state. Hot Sun Quartet will again bring the flavor of Spain and Latin beats to the Museum, while the Smooth Jazz Trio will offer their signature laid-back cool jazz for hot summer nights. The Jim Morey Trio will again bring traditional jazz with a hint of scat, and the Larry Camp Trio will entertain with the popular be-bop style that has made them a favorite in the local jazz community.
4 new groups are part of our summer lineup including Nate Najar, Stolen Idols, Campfire Jazz and The Jeremy Carter Group. Nate Najar who is one of the very few artists that plays jazz on the classical guitar, will bring Swinging jazz sounds, blues, and Brazilian styles to the museum this summer. Stolen Idols will play authentic 1950s/60s-era exotica, the tropical mood-music jazz subgenre pioneered by Martin Denny and Les Baxter. The Campfire Quartet will bring a genre of jazz that is highly influenced by r & b and funk and finally The Jeremy Carter Group will delight us with American saxophonist, Jeremy Carter’s style of jazz heavily influenced by Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
